Imelda Rivera is a central character in the Pixar animated film, Coco (2017). She is Miguel Rivera's great-great-grandmother and the matriarch of the Rivera family.

In her youth, Imelda was married to a musician who abandoned her and their daughter, Coco, to pursue his musical dreams. Heartbroken and determined to provide for her child, Imelda banished music from her family and dedicated herself to shoemaking. This trade became the Rivera family's legacy.

After her death, Imelda resided in the Land of the Dead, continuing to run her family with a firm hand. She enforced the ban on music and expected her descendants to adhere to her rules, particularly during Día de Muertos.

Throughout Coco, Imelda confronts her past and learns to forgive her husband. She ultimately blesses Miguel to pursue his musical aspirations, realizing the importance of both family and passion.
